Alternative investing as brokering: The embedding process of a Social Impact Bond model in a local context

Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) are gaining traction as a research topic. Using longitudinal case study of Norwegian social venture - Nature Magic funded through SIB model, this article explores the embedding process model into local context – diverging from previous focused on empirical cases UK and USA refining aspects SIBs. We show that is embedded three processes: 1) cultivating opportunity; 2) pulling together; 3) fostering experimentation ‘mutation’. find these processes were fostered developing activating bonding bridging capital. This also extends our understanding alternative investing by theorizing it brokering. investors engage in brokering facilitating collaboration between typically disconnected spheres such ventures municipalities processes.
